What: One of a Kind Spring Show   tell a friend     single event

    When: March 20, 2008 until March 24, 2008

Organization: One of a Kind Show
Where: Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto, ON
More Info: Similar to most brilliant ideas, the One of a Kind Show was born out of a simple desire for something more. Premiering at Toronto's Queen Elizabeth Building in December 1975, the "craft show" was the brainchild of Steven Levy, Martin Rumack and June Bibby. June (herself an artisan) couldn't find a place to sell her work before Christmas, so the three friends decided to create their own holiday shopping venue. After a great deal of leg work and countless all-nighters, the trio launched the first One of a Kind Show, which encompassed 25 000 square feet and 80 participants.

    Organization: Sherway Gardens
Where: Sherway Gardens -- 25 The West Mall, Etobicoke, ON
More Info: Remarkable pictures of the otherwise unremarkable are featured in Sherway Gardens (Hwy 427 & the QEW) current Gallery in the Garden exhibit, entitled "RE-THOUGHT", on display until April 5, 2008. These images by photographers Heidi Leverty, J Liam Kelly, Scott W. Howard and Patrick Corniere capture the recycled, reused, renewed, revised, redecorated and remade, so they may be re-seen and re-thought. For more information call 416-621-1070 or visit www.sherwaygardens.ca.

Heidi Leverty was born in Italy and raised in Toronto and is an honours graduate of the photography program at the Ontario College of Art. In her work she looks for the extraordinary and unique in the otherwise ordinary and insignificant. Her work featured in RE-THOUGHT is from her Outbox series exploring the passage of items from refuse or trash to recycled material. More of Heidi’s photos can be seen at www.heidileverty.com

Toronto’s J Liam Kelly captures the transient beauty of graffiti, an illicit art form, with all of the beauty it creates in the midst of the most ordinary or derelict of locations in the city. As graffiti is removed as quickly as it appears in most locations, the photographs are often the only way in which most of us can experience the composition, design, colour and spirit of this art form.

Scott W. Howard grew up in Northern Ontario and currently resides in Brampton. He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and is in constant pursuit of photographic excellence. In 2007, he partnered in the establishment of “Original Images”. The “Original Images” collection can be viewed at www.originalimages.ca.

Now living in Brampton, Patrick Corniere was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan. As an amateur photographer, Patrick takes great pleasure in being able to spend time doing something so fulfilling. His photographs are a result of many unique moments; day trips, walks, travels or country drives. The “Original Images” collection can be viewed at www.originalimages.ca.
